COISSA Board Member Nomination and Election Process

Open board positions and their respective duties can be found at the bottom of this page. Complete the form below to nominate an individual for one of the open positions.

Nomination Information:

  • Nomination submissions will open July 8th and close on July 29th

  • Nominees must be active COISSA members to be considered

  • Interested parties may self-nominate

Election Information:

  • Members must be in good standing by August 5th to vote during this election cycle. These members will be invited to a Meet the Candidates Webinar on August 10th.

  • Active COISSA members will receive an invitation to cast their vote on August 12th which must be completed by August 28th.

  • Candidates will be notified of election results on September 2nd and will be published broadly on September 4th.

  • Elected board members will serve a two-year term.

Position Descriptions

  • The President shall serve as the executive officer of the Chapter, presiding over Chapter meetings and adhering to members’ directives. The President has the authority to call special meetings when deemed necessary for the Chapter’s benefit. The President may serve two consecutive terms, after which a two-year period must pass before being eligible for reelection.

    *To be eligible, nominees must have previously completed a full term as a COISSA board member.

  • The Secretary shall record and maintain minutes of all meetings, keep the Chapter’s official records, and perform monthly bank reconciliations. The Secretary is also responsible for ensuring that all legal documents are filed properly and promptly.

  • The Director of Communications shall maintain accurate membership address lists to ensure all members in good standing are notified of meetings and receive necessary correspondence. Under the President’s direction, the Communications Officer shall handle all Chapter correspondence and perform duties typically associated with the office of the Communications Officer.

  • The Director of Operations shall oversee the Association’s activities, ensuring efficient and effective performance. This officer will act as the primary contact for Chapter events, such as the Central Ohio InfoSec Summit, and ensure that all officers are informed and prepared for these events. The Director may seek additional assistance to ensure the success of Chapter events and is responsible for building and maintaining the Association’s brand to support Chapter growth and maturity. This role also involves supporting other Chapter officers to ensure strategic alignment and efficient processes.

  • The Director of Scholarships oversees the development, implementation, and management of scholarship programs. Responsibilities include establishing criteria, collaborating with donors, managing application processes, and ensuring fair distribution of funds. This role requires strategic planning, budget management, and fostering relationships with educational institutions and stakeholders. The Director of Scholarships also serves as the President of the 501(c)(3) scholarship foundation.

  • The Director of Speakers shall identify, plan, and coordinate speakers and trainers for Chapter events, including the annual Central Ohio InfoSec Summit. This Director ensures that qualified sponsors can support the Chapter with speakers at meetings while striving to have two out of three speakers not be from vendors. All board members support this role.
